A tribunal has ruled against Colin Homes, a former paramedic from Fakenham, who was accused of fabricating an email that appeared to be from the East of England Ambulance Service’s former chief executive, Rob Morton. The email, which Homes forwarded to colleagues in 2021, falsely suggested that certain staff members were eligible for more favorable employment terms.
The incident came to light after Mr. Morton had resigned and set his email to “out of office” in 2018. The NHS trust’s investigation revealed that the email in question had been manipulated by Homes, leading to his dismissal.
Homes argued that his dismissal was unfair and claimed he should have been given a final warning instead. However, the employment tribunal ruled that the trust had acted within its rights, and no violation of Acas guidelines was found. The tribunal stated that the trust had “lost all trust and confidence” in Homes due to his actions.
