New York, September 23, 2024, 11:49 AM (Updated) – Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, in a roundtable hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York, declared that India is at the forefront of a transformative moment in technology, urging businesses to seize this unparalleled opportunity. Huang, whose company is a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and accelerated computing, emphasized the potential India holds in shaping the future of AI.
Huang joined 15 other tech industry leaders at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel for the discussion, where he expressed excitement about India’s evolving role in the global technology landscape. “This is India’s moment. You have to seize the opportunity,” he remarked, highlighting the nation’s growing influence in AI.
He further noted that India is home to some of the world’s greatest computer scientists and praised the country’s ability to contribute to cutting-edge advancements. “India, as you know, is home to some of the world’s greatest computer scientists. Artificial intelligence is also a new manufacturing industry that’s very important, and I’m looking forward to partnering with India in a deep way to make this possible,” said Huang.
Reflecting on his interactions with Prime Minister Modi, Huang described the Indian leader as a curious and insightful student of technology. “I’ve enjoyed so many meetings with the Prime Minister. He’s such an incredible student. Every time I see him, he wants to learn about AI, its potential, and the opportunities it can unlock for India,” Huang shared.
India’s robust startup ecosystem, the third largest in the world, was another highlight in Huang’s remarks. He emphasized the critical role AI infrastructure plays in sustaining this thriving landscape. “India is home to the third-largest startup economy, and this new generation of startups is all based on AI. To make it successful, AI infrastructure is essential,” he said.
Nvidia’s involvement in India’s technological development is evident in its AI Centres of Excellence at several Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), where students and professionals are trained in AI. According to Huang, this collaboration is key to preparing India for the future of computing, where AI is democratizing access and transforming industries worldwide.
As AI reshapes industries globally, Nvidia’s deepening partnership with India is poised to play a crucial role in advancing the nation’s technological leadership.
