In a significant leadership change, Arief Mohammad, head of Flipkart’s fashion vertical, is set to depart the company. His role will be taken over by Nandita Sinha, the CEO of Myntra, a sister company also owned by Walmart. Sinha, who has been instrumental in driving Myntra to EBITDA profitability earlier this year, will now oversee both Myntra and Flipkart Fashion. However, the two entities will continue to operate independently under her guidance.
A Flipkart spokesperson confirmed the development, stating, “(Nandita) has been instrumental in driving the growth of numerous businesses within the Flipkart ecosystem. Under her leadership, Myntra has solidified its position in the fashion industry, while also paving its path for the next phase of growth. Flipkart Fashion and Myntra will continue to operate independently under Nandita’s leadership as she guides the broader strategic direction for Fashion.”
Nandita Sinha has been a part of Flipkart for over eight years and took over as CEO of Myntra in January 2022. Her expanded role comes amid a series of senior leadership changes within Flipkart, led by Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy. In recent months, the company has seen the departure of several senior executives, including Prathyusha Agarwal as VP and head of Shopsy, Anuj Rathi as CEO of Cleartrip, and others in key positions.
These changes align with Flipkart’s recent efforts to streamline operations, which included performance-based trimming across all verticals earlier this year. The company continues to adapt its leadership structure to align with its strategic goals and the evolving market landscape.
