Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang made a bold prediction during the company’s annual developer conference in San Jose, California, suggesting that humanoid robots could be widely adopted in manufacturing facilities within the next five years. Speaking to a packed stadium of developers and journalists, Huang unveiled cutting-edge software tools designed to improve robots’ ability to navigate and function in real-world environments.
The nearly $3 trillion tech giant is aggressively pushing AI-powered robotics, positioning itself as a key player in the industry’s future. Huang emphasized the rapid pace of AI integration, stating, “When, literally, humanoid robots are wandering around, which is not five years away. This is not a five-years-away problem; this is a few-years-away problem.”
According to Huang, manufacturing will likely be the first industry to adopt humanoid robots due to its structured environments and repetitive tasks. “I think it ought to go to factories first. The domain is much more guard-railed, and the use case is much more specific,” he explained. He also highlighted the economic viability of these robots, estimating that renting a humanoid robot could cost around $100,000—an investment that could soon become a practical reality for businesses.
